Coronaviurs and the music industry
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has affected pretty much every industry in one way or another across the entire globe – in particular the arts, entertainment and music industries have felt the effects. Festivals, performances, and all sorts of productions have been shut down or cancelled well into the future. We aren’t sure how long restrictions will be in place, but it’s a good bet that it won’t be business as usual for some time to come. So what’s the state of the music industry during these unprecedented times? We will discuss just that in this post and introduce our Coronavirus series, which will help you get on the road to creating music from home.
No more music shows?
The entire live music industry has come to a standstill in a matter of weeks. Thousands of tours across the world having already been cancelled, and future 2020 musical festivals have been forced to either postpone events or cancel entirely. Although some musicians have switched gears during the isolation and started to host live jamming sessions on Instagram and Facebook, for budding musicians and singers still trying to grow their portfolio and fan-base, the effects have been devastating. Not to mention being cooped up at home can be draining on those creative juices and overall motivation.
No more records?
The recording industry is no different as many music and rehearsal studios have had to close their doors due to government restrictions and safety concerns for both staff and artists alike.
